Potassium carbonate sesquihydrate (K₂CO₃·1.5H₂O), also known as "potash hydrate," is a white, deliquescent salt that forms when potassium carbonate (K₂CO₃) crystallizes from solution, containing 1.5 molecules of water per formula unit.

  • Dutch-Processed Cocoa: It's used in the alkalization of cocoa powder to produce Dutch-processed chocolate, enhancing aroma and balancing the pH. 

Agriculture:

  • Fertilizer: Potassium carbonate is used as a source of potassium, a macronutrient essential for plant growth. 

Animal Feed:

  • Macromineral Nutrient: It can be used as a source of potassium in animal feedstocks.
