Aqueous solution of phenol is weakly acidic and turns blue litmus slightly to red. Phenol is easily neutralized by sodium hydroxide forming sodium phenate or phenolate, but it being weaker than carbonic acid cannot be neutralized by sodium bicarbonate or sodium carbonate to liberate carbon dioxide

What is the use of Phenol Liquid? 
 
Phenol liquid is used to disinfect skin as well as relieve itching. It is functional as an anesthetic and oral analgesic in several products. This is used for surgical ingrown toenail treatment, the process of which is known as phenolization.

Use 5–10 kg/acre for solid application.

Spray it directly onto the soil early in the morning or late in the evening.
