Gum Ghatti is used in the food industry as a source of water soluble fiber. The stabilizing properties of Gum Ghatti are used for emulsions and suspension in beverages, sweets and flavors. Further applications include the production of waxes, colors and inks and uses in the paper and cosmetic industries.
In this work, biodegradable hydrogel composite gum ghatti-co-poly(acrylic acid-aniline) (Gg-co-poly(AA-ANI) was prepared through graft copolymerization of ANI onto Gg-co-poly(AA) chains, in the presence of N,N’-methylene-bis-acrylamide (MBA) and ammonium persulphate (APS) as a crosslinker-initiator system in an aqueous solution.
The nanoparticles exhibited excellent catalytic activity in dye degradation and the results of this study demonstrate the possible application of biogenic palladium nanoparticles as nanocatalyst in environmental remediation.
