Kenya Chemical is one of the leading Calcium chloride dihydrate Exporters, Manufacturers, Suppliers, and Producers in Nairobi, Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Congo, South Africa, South Sudan, Zambia, Nigeria, Namibia, Ghana, Malawi Nairobi Kenya.

Calcium chloride dihydrate is a white or gray chemical, mostly in granular form. Currently, calcium chloride dihydrate is used as a snow-melting agent in the most widely used field on the market. Very hygroscopic, easily deliquescent when exposed to the air, and easily soluble in water

Other names
Neutral calcium chloride; calcium(II) chloride, calcium dichloride, E509

Chemical Description: Calcium Chloride
CAS number:10035-04-8
Chemical Formula: CaCl2.2H2O
Molecular Weight:147.01
Solubility: easily dissolvable in water with a large quantity of heat released; Dissolvable in alcohol, acetone, and acetic acid.
Calcium Chloride Dihydrate: 74-77%min

USAGE &APPLICATION
1. It is usually used for snow melting and deicing on roads, high-speed highways, parking lots, and docks.
2. It can also be used as a desiccant, such as for the drying of nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, hydrogen chloride, other gases.
3. It is the best material for port fog elimination, road dust collection, and fabric fire protection.
4. Used as a dehydrating agent in the production of alcohols, esters, ethers, and acrylic resins.
5. Calcium chloride aqueous solution is an important refrigeration medium for refrigerators and ice making. It can also accelerate the hardening of concrete and increase the cold resistance of construction mortar. It is an excellent antifreeze for construction.
6. Used as a protective and refining agent for aluminum-magnesium metallurgy. It is a precipitant for the production of lake pigments.
7. Used for waste paper processing and deinking.
8, is the raw material for the production of calcium salt.
9. Calcium chloride solution is used as a flocculant in the sodium alginate industry and the soy product industry.

Application
It is mainly used for the industry of dyeing, medicine, leather making, paper making, chemical fiber, film, photographing, food, etc.

Application

Calcium Chloride is used mainly as an agent for gas drying, as an additive to oil-drilling mud, as a de-icing agent, and as an anti-frosting agent for concrete, as a binding agent for de-dusting as well for the preparation of solutions as heating media or for the preparation of cooling brines. The product is typically available in form of lye or in solid form or granules.

Calcium Chloride can be used to achieve rapid density increase with minimum volume addition. It also provides inhibition preventing the hydration and migration of swelling clays and can be used in packer fluids. Calcium Chloride is available with anhydrous (CaCl2) and dihydrate (CaCl2.2H2O) in form of powder and pellets.

Uses
De-icing and freezing-point depression

By depressing the freezing point of water, calcium chloride is used to prevent ice formation and is used to de-ice. This application consumes the greatest amount of calcium chloride. Calcium chloride is relatively harmless to plants and soil. As a deicing agent, it is much more effective at lower temperatures than sodium chloride. When distributed for this use, it usually takes the form of small, white spheres a few millimeters in diameter, called prills. Solutions of calcium chloride can prevent freezing at temperatures as low as −52 °C (−62 °F), making it ideal for filling agricultural implement tires as a liquid ballast, aiding traction in cold climates.

It is also used in domestic and industrial chemical air dehumidifiers.

Road surfacing

The second-largest application of calcium chloride exploits its hygroscopic nature and the tackiness of its hydrates; calcium chloride is highly hygroscopic and its hydration is an exothermic reaction. A concentrated solution keeps a liquid layer on the surface of dirt roads, which suppresses the formation of dust. It keeps the finer dust particles on the road, providing a cushioning layer. If these are allowed to blow away, the large aggregate begins to shift around and the road breaks down. Using calcium chloride reduces the need for grading by as much as 50% and the need for fill-in materials as much as 80%.
